Black Lives Matter. We stand by it. We support it. We fight for it. It is not enough to just say this. It is not enough to just hope for it. It is not enough to post about it and then not do any of the work for it.

We see this time and time again. Another black man or woman killed. We post about it, we give our thoughts and prayer and then we move on. However, the problem doesn’t move on. The grief doesn’t move on. The violence doesn’t move on. The racism doesn’t move on. The lives taken don’t move on.

We say not this time. We aren’t moving on. We aren’t giving just our thoughts and prayers. We demand action, accountability and justice. This can look different for everybody. Whether it be amplifying the voices of your fellow black friends, neighbors and colleagues. Whether it be donating to the black-led organizations on the ground and fighting for this work systematically. Whether it be out there marching on the front-lines using your voice. Whether it be making the calls to your local representatives and signing the petitions. Whether it be educating your white peers about anti-racism. We all have a part to play in this. We all have a responsibility to our black communities. Silence is complicity.

In Solidarity,
Malia
