Feeling Thankful

We have a lot to be thankful for this year. We’d love to share what’s on our list…

For Temi

  1. Health. Pandemic living really highlighted the beauty of good health. I’m thankful for this one every day. I really make sure I prioritize a baseline of high quality food, daily movement/exercise, lots of water, and sleep.

  2. Books. Oh man, I LOVE a good book. I usually read fiction and listen to audio. Favorites this year include:

    1. Girl, Woman, Other

    2. The Midnight Library

    3. The Idea of You

    4. We Should all Be Millionaires (non fiction)

    5. The Expectation Effect (non fiction)

    6. Mating in Captivity (non fiction)

    7. And hurrah! My book is out in December! Your Special Voice

  3. Family! Perhaps an obvious one but human connection is so fundamental to our wellbeing. I have my immediate family at home with me, and my extended family is really spread out and living in three countries (on three separate continents). We’re close knit so wouldn’t have anticipated we’d all live so far apart but…life. Forever thankful for excellent technology that enables us all to see each other regularly and speak daily (Yes, daily! I make those time differences work!)

For Courtney

  1. Relationships. Whether it’s a school drop-off friend, childhood best friend, or Instagram friend, I appreciate these friendships. I value the silly banter, check-in’s, gif’s, activism pushes, the love that goes back and forth in real life and virtually.

  2. White Lotus, Season 2. This one is a bit silly, sure. But that aside, superior season (IMHO), great cast, gorgeous location, and a fun watch at the end of a busy day. Plus it’s a reminder to us to plan that Italy trip.

  3. Renovated kitchen. Oh how happy I am that we have more counter space, better lighting and pretty palette to look at while making school lunches. The kitchen before was a poor flip and put, it was a bummer. Now, we enjoy having friends over while munching on salty snacks over the peninsula countertop. Do I ever want to do a kitchen renovation again? God no. But so thankful for this one.

For Lianna

  1. My SF experience. I’ve lived in the city for 2 years now, and I couldn’t ask for a better group of friends to have around me, a more fun city to explore, and a better job that allows me to explore the beauty of the design world of SF. I love the hustle and bustle, I love the culture, and I love that there is always something to do. It’s rich in history and hidden gems, and I feel so lucky to be able to live here and call SF my home. The communities I’m a part of truly feel like a chosen family, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

  2. Music. One of the most important things to me to have back since the height of the pandemic is live music, concerts, and festivals. I don’t think I ever feel more alive than in a crowd with people I love, dancing to the music we love, in a beautiful place. Music will never cease to make me feel what ever it is I need to feel with nonjudgement.

  3. The air in my lungs. One day is here, the next day is gone. The perspective that life is a beautiful fleeting gift really gets me through the toughest of times.

Wishing our community time and space to reflect on what you are thankful for.
